During 1944,  existed an Italian Navy's top-secret elite unit called Gruppo Gamma .
They sank more than 200,000 tons of ships and established itself as the world's most deadly naval commandos.

These brave men were equipped with special tools watch to ensure
accurate timing of their operations.
In 2013, a Singapore company founded by a young man rebuilt these
legendary timepieces into our modern world.

Well enough of the history let me unveil to you Gruppo Gamma
watches. Well some people may find the name funny, but upon reading this short intro you will have an idea how the name come about.

They are a boutique watchmaker  making modern interpretation of legendary watches issued to the Italian Navy Commandos in the 40's. The watches they offer looks fantastic and true to their heritage.

Inside the 44mm case lies a grade 1 seagull TY3600 Movement.
All the watches are water resistant to 10 ATM and comes with a display back where one can admire the movement.

The watches falls under two collection, Genesis and Ascent and there are the regular production models and limited edition models.

The Genesis collection.

The Ascent  Collection

Packing
This is where the company shines, a picture tells a thousand words.

The casing is something interesting i like to share.

The casing is very useful, you can store many things.
The boss really went deep into design, as many expensive
watches gives you fancy big boxes. Which mostly ended up
in the store room, and the ending maybe in the dustbin one day. But for Gruppo this does not happen, so you can see Gruppo Gamma is  a company thats thinks way deep.

In conclusion

The Good

1.The value and design is well worth the money.

2.The after sales service is top notch.

3.The lume is swiss  grade as i am very particular at night how the watch glows.

4.Great care is taken when the watch is been sent to buyer
like packing etc etc.

5. Built is solid and robust and uphold the heritage icon very well. Beautiful case back can see the movement.

The small problems

1. The winding movement, some new and excited owner tends to over wind and cannot lock back the crown.

2. Its an addiction, once you buy a piece you cannot stop from buying a second piece even your wife nags at you.

3. The highly polish stainless steel body is a sight to behold,
but many finger prints to see also.

4. Only a certain model have date, but our hand phone have date so not much of a problem.

Stay tune for our next review of the upcoming new Gruppo Series. You never know what is up next.
And a big thank you for all the lovely pictures taken from the
Gruppo Gamma Watcher Owner Club.

A big thank you for all the wonderful picture by the owners,
and lastly the man behind Gruppo Gamma , Naoki. God bless everyone and have a nice day.

Live high, live mighty, live righteously, taking it easy.

Ziiiro Gravity Says Look No Hands

The ZIIIRO Gravity Watch is arguably one of the most fascinating watch i have seen this year.
The ZIIIRO Gravity wrist watch represents time in a unique way. The inner swirl represents the current hour and the outer displays the minutes. The minute swirl changes its gradient continuously to show the passage of time. The watch is value at Rm 470 .

The watch has no distracting needles or hands and wide variety of colorful straps are also available for the watch. The watch comes with a one year warranty and is available in 9 colors.

What Is It Made Of ?

The strap is actually made from a mix of silicone and metal. This mixture makes the strap flexible and durable at the same time. The Gravity series has a bracelet type strap so there are no clamps or connectors at the end.
By looking at the picture beside you can briefly have the idea.

The discs that tell the time are driven by a Miyota IL-26 quartz movement that’s housed in a steel case that measures in at 38mm by 7.5mm that nets you 30m water resistance.

How to read time on the ZIIIRO Gravity Watch

For the ZIIIRO Gravity Watch you’re able to tell the time by looking at the tips of the two swirls. There are actually two: one inner and one outer. The tip of the inner swirl tells you the hour while the tip of the outer indicates minutes. Awesome right?!

It may be confusing at first but after a day you will find it cool.

Final Conclusion

The Gravity is price at Rm 470 , a decent price for a nicely and well built fashion watch.
The only drawback is there is no backlight, so it impossible to see in the dark.

Thats the only flaw i see, but overall it still a fun and interesting time piece to own.
This time piece has attract some attention to friends and some strangers on the streets of Orchard Road Singapore.

If you want an uncommon and beautiful clock on your wrist, this is the watch for you!

The Life Of A Ziiiro Watch

There once was a watch name ZERO and after receiving a lot attention , designer Robert Dabi decided to make it a reality as the ZIIIRO.

ZIIIRO is a brand of unique wrist watches, founded in 2010 by 2 guys named Robert & Derick.

The first time i lay my eyes on a real Ziiiro watch , i fell in love with it. This new model called Saturn
is a digitised version of the Celeste. Will i like this model as much as the Celeste?
Lets find out..

Ziiiro takes the mundane act of time telling into a whole new modern era. Its unique clock face is not just stylish to look at, it's also fun. Well in life it good to have more fun right? The Saturn attracts quite a bit of attentions from friends and random strangers.

Design

Saturn’s unique liquid crystal display rides through time by propelling its hour and minute through black segments. The hour can be deciphered from its outer ring of 12 segments and minute from inner ring of 60 segments.
The concept of the first ZIIIRO Watch is a clock face without hands or markings, but a constantly changing pattern of rings indicating the passing of time. The main theme is minimalism, so there are no distracting elements in the design, and after a short time you will acquire a feel for reading the time. This futuristic piece comes with a matte stainless steel casing and 24mm stainless steel mesh strap. Available in 3 colors of Black, Gunmetal and Chrome
It also has  EL backlight for night viewing — and I must add that the glow of the EL light is bright enough in the night , kind of remind me of Tony Stark Arc Reactor.

The Saturn is very well constructed. Its 45mm case and strap are both made from stainless steel and feels very solid. It may not be suitable for ladies  because of how large the case is. The weight is distributed fairly evenly across the entire case, and the case is only 10.5mm thick, which is about the same thickness as your average luxury watch. This watch is water proof to 30m and is  able to withstand perspiration, rain and washing but should not be used for swimming.

Final Conclusion

At Rm 729, I wouldn’t say that the saturn is an affordable watch. It may be relatively inexpensive compared to other designer brands, but for an unknown, the price may cause some potential buyers consider their purchase. But nowadays a Seiko cost over RM 1000 for a decent model.

Many watch  feel cheaper than they look. Not with the Saturn. It seems to be both beautiful and well-crafted at the same time. I would give it a go for this one.
The watch is well built. It’s beautiful, elegant and geeky at the same time. So I find no reason not to recommend it.
